Dr. Silverman has devised a method of hoof evaluation that utilizes standard static and dynamic examination of the horse in combination with specific biometrics derived from a digital radiographic balance series. In some cases high speed/slow motion video data is also employed in the podiatry evaluation.

The data collected during this exam is then used to create a podiatry prescription for your horse. Dr. Silverman works routinely with many of the farriers in our area and around the country to establish a shoeing plan for your horse. A Podiatry Consultation is an invaluable procedure, not only for recovering from injury, but also as prevention from injury! Consultations are available by phone.

Radiographs of feet, digital pictures of the front, side and solar surface of each foot along with complete history can be sent to Dr. Silverman on a CD (best) or through email. Dr. Silverman will evaluate the material, formulate a plan, and then do a consultation via phone with responsible parties on the case. The consultation will be fee basis depending on the time Dr Silverman spends on the case. Arrangements can be made for Dr Silverman to travel outside his normal boundaries to your farm with attending veterinarian and farrier on severe and complicated hoof problems. This method is beneficial since the horse can be evaluated by the team and a treatment plan discussed and executed collectively.
