Nuclear Scintigraphy (available on premises)

Following a thorough lameness exam, Dr. Silverman may recommend a Nuclear Scintigraphy study, also known as a “Bone Scan.” A bone scan will look at the entire skeletal structure of your horse. This procedure is performed at our clinic by San Dieguito Equine Group. A bone scan takes several hours and your horse is required to remain at our facility for 2 days, while the radioactive material is expelled and degrades.
