Dr. Silverman performs acupuncture which is an ancient Chinese medical practice that calls for inserting needles into specific points on the body. The stimulation can cause physiological changes within the body, such as increased blood circulation or relief from muscle spasms. Needle sizes ranged from a hair-like width to a 25-gauge hypodermic. Most horses have an immediate relaxation response to the stimuli. Dr. Silverman uses dry needle, electro-stimulation, and aqua acupuncture.
